The industry is currently working to address challenges where pixel density on Micro-OLED backplanes must be balanced against the physical constraints of waveguide coupling and the temporal limitations of eye-tracking telemetry. The result is often described as 'projection jitter,' which can impact user experience. The root cause involves the temporal gap between the fovea's position and the waveguide’s diffraction grating response.

The Physics of Waveguide Jitter

Waveguide-based AR systems rely on diffractive optical elements (DOEs) to couple light from a Micro-OLED source into a glass or polymer substrate.
